We live in the KONO neighborhood, very close to Uptown, Temescal, Lake Merritt, West Oakland.

Gum Kuo Tasty yummy Cantonese traditional comfort food located in Chinatown. One of our favorite places to have a late dinner. 9th & Franklin inside Pacific Renaissance Plaza
Farley's Great coffee, good place to hang and people watch, do work, or have a sandwich or drink outside on the parklet or inside. Lots of magazines which are free(!) to read while in the café. Grand Ave btwn Broadway & Webster
Sweet Bar Cafe Two blocks over from our place. Fresh baked pastries, mixed teas and other light fare. 24th & Broadway
Hawker Fare Tasty Southeast Asian fusion food! Outdoor food comes indoors but without a ridiculous indoor markup. 23rd & Webster
TrueBurger Yup, this is a yummy burger joint, one of Seng's favorite places for a burger, fries and milkshake. Grand & Valdez
Oasis Food Market Excellent Yemeni food. Not the most organized service, but the place to go for kebab and felafel. Telegraph & 31st

Beauty Bagels Def more West Coasty. Good bagels and sandwiches! Across the street from Macarthur BART at Telegraph btwn 38/40th
Authentic Bagels Our favorite place to get bagels, almost like back East! Gisela is in heaven. We are getting bagels from this place for our Sunday picnic brunch. 2nd St. btwn Broadway/Washington
Shan Dong Restaurant Great Chinese eatery for dumplings and noodles. 10th & Webster
Shooting Star Late night Chinese diner. Open until 1:30am. Better to get the new style Chinese food rather than the traditional stuff (won ton noodles are way better at Gum Kuo). Be prepared to be the oldest people in there, including the cops. Webster & 11th

Dogwood Bar Bar down the street serving good cocktails and cured meats. Definitely have some cured meats if you come here. Love the mustard. 17th & Telegraph

The New Parkway Theater Movies + couch + food= awesome! $8 movies a half a block away from us. Good projection and sound, too. 24th btwn Telegraph/Valley

Children's Fairyland A storybook theme park for children and adults, located by Lake Merritt.
Chabot Space and Science Center There's an archery range and walking course next door. Bring your bow and arrows and Seng will show you around. 10000 Skyline Boulevard
